LG Polls: Gov Mbah canvasses votes for PDP candidates
Politics
GOV. Peter Mbah of Enugu State has urged the electorate to vote for the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Sept. 21 Local Government Election in the state.
Mbah made the call during the Grand Finale of the PDP’s LG election Campaign held at the Okpara Square on Wednesday in Enugu.
The governor said that election of the party’s candidates would consolidate his administration’s development strides.
According to him, my administration is currently executing over 1,000 projects across the 17 LGAs in the state.
Mbah said that N1 billion worth of projects were ongoing across each of the 260 wards in the state.
“When we say power to the people in PDP, we understand where power belongs. You entrust your mandate to those who will hit the ground running.
“We are currently executing over 1,000 projects in our state; and what that means is that you have not entrusted your future to people that will use it for trial and error,” he said.
He added that his administration were currently building Smart Green Schools and Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres in all the 260 wards.
“This is to ensure that every child has access to quality learning and the idea is that 10 to 15 years from now, no child in Enugu State will ever be poor while our women will have access to healthcare.
“We are spending over N1 billion naira in every ward. The bye-products of these activities are employment generation and wealth creation so that our people would no longer be hungry,” he said.
The governor said that the PDP took conscious steps to elect credible candidates for the council primary election, knowing that the rural communities were the most developmentally challenged.
“We are presenting to you candidates with track record and possessed ability to deliver. Therefore, you must come out en masse to vote for them,” appealed.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the PDP in Enugu State, Dr Martin Chukwunweike, said the candidates campaigned intensively in all the 260 wards, noting, however, that they did not see the opposition campaigning anywhere.
“If you do not campaign, how do you hope to win? It is a walkover. Nevertheless, we urge our supporters to come out and vote en masse to make the needed change,” he stated. (NAN)
