FORMER governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom, has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would sweep all 23 chairmanships and 276 councillorship elections in the Saturday local government polls.

Ortom stated this at the party’s campaign flag-off on Wednesday in Makurdi.

The former governor said that his party was fully on ground and that they were no longer divided as they were during the 2023 general elections.

“We have the numbers. We will surely win, and the party will contest any manipulation of results in court,” Ortom said.

The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue, Sen. Napoleon Bali, corroborated Ortom that
Benue was a PDP state and would not have any reason not to win the election.

Represented by the committee secretary, Mr Osita Ogene, Bali admonished the candidates to embark on door-to-door campaigns, emphasising that the strategy did not require much funds.

The chairman challenged the candidates and their supporters to sell themselves to the electorate with confidence without any fear because they were surely going to win their elections.

Sen. Abba Moro said that the election would not be selection, stating that the party’s candidates would come out victorious.

Mr Dondo Ahire, in a goodwill message on behalf of Benue North East Senatorial District, said that the people of the district were working for unity in the party.

Ahire said that they needed to come together and wrestle power from the current administration and repair the damage that it had done to the economy.

Mr Michael Uba, who spoke for PDP members in Benue North West, said that they would not disappoint the party, stressing that they would ensure that the party enjoyed a landslide victory in the area.

Meanwhile, Mr Alex Ogaba, who spoke on behalf of the Benue Senatorial District, assured that the party would win overwhelmingly in the senatorial district and urged them to guard their votes to avoid any form of manipulation.

The Minority Leader, Benue House of Assembly, Mr Michael Audu, urged all the stakeholders not to leave the battle in the hands of the candidates alone.

Audu stated that together they could achieve an unimaginable outcome. (NAN)
