ABDUL Hamid Dbeibah, the newly-elected Prime Minister of Libya, says the ministers in his proposed government will “serve all of Libyans’’, not just the cities where they come from.

Dbeibah made the remarks when addressing the House of Representatives, which is convening in the city of Sirte for a vote of confidence in his Government of National Unity.

“We must live to the responsibility of achieving the goal of serving our country and not focus on just the cities or areas of origins of the senior government officials,’’ Dbeibah said.

Last month, Dbeibah presented a list of ministers in his cabinet to the House of Representatives, saying that it would be a government of “technocrats and professionals” representing all Libyans.

On Monday, he called on the House of Representatives to approve the new government.

The UN-sponsored Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) recently selected a new executive authority for the country.

The new authority’s main task is to prepare the country for the upcoming general elections scheduled for Dec. 24, as agreed by the LPDF. (Xinhua/NAN)
