Lockdown: Para-Atheletics chairman donates cash gift to members in Ekiti

CHAIRMAN, Ekiti Para-Atheletics Association, Gbenga Familoni, has donated N25,000 each to all Para-Athletes in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that Familoni gave the cash gift on Tuesday at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti.

The  chairman said the gesture was to cushion the effects of the lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic on them.

“I want the beneficiaries of the gift to see it as my own contribution to identify with them.

“I believe this token will go a long way to cushion the effects of the lockdown directive by Ekiti Government as a result of COVID-19 pandemic, ” he said.

In a similar vein, Ekiti All Stars Football Club, has donated food items as palliatives to five Ekiti Para-Atheletes.

Dr Sunday Afolayan, the Chairman of Ekiti All Stars Football Club, while giving the food items to the beneficiaries in Ado-Ekiti, described the gesture as a show of love.

“What we are giving to you is not an indication that you are poor, it is our show of love for you.

“This gift is in appreciation of your courage to participate in sports, despite your physical challenges,” Afolayan said.

NAN reports that the food items included, milk, bournvita and biscuits .

The Head Coach of Ekiti Para-Atheletics club, Mr Peter Ojo, thanked the donors for the gesture and called on other well meaning Nigerians, especially Ekiti indigenes, to emulate same.
