Maiden Convocation: FUBK to award 3,373 degrees

THE Federal University Birnin Kebbi, FUBK, says it will award 3,373 graduands with degrees in different fields at its maiden 1st-5th convocation ceremony scheduled for Oct. 12.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Zaiyan-Umar, made this known at a press conference to herald activities marking the maiden combined 1st–5th convocation ceremony of the institution on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi.

”I am glad to announce to us here that we shall be graduating a total number of 3,373 graduands across the five sessions, who have been found worthy in both character and learning, to receive the degree certificates of the university,” he said.

According to him, the graduands can collect their certificates immediately after the ceremony.

Zaiyan-Umar said that the convocation would be very unique in several ways, explaining that it coincided with the 10 years of academic activities of the university and would be the first of its kind in the history of FUBK.

”The university shall be conferring Honorary Doctorate degree on four distinguished Nigerians whose eminence in their respective endeavours cannot be overemphasised.

”They are, former Governor of Kebbi, Alhaji Sa’idu Dakingari, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi, the Sole Founder and Chairman of Oriental Energy Resources Limited and Mr Leo Stan Ekeh, the Chairman of Zinox Group and Founder of Konga.com as well as Amb. Alhaji Abubakar Sani (Makaman Sokoto).

”These illustrious public servants and philanthropists have made tremendous contributions in the take-off and subsequent transformation of the FUBK,” the VC said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the maiden combined convocation covers 2017/2018, 2018/2019, 2019/2020,2020/2021, and 2021/2022. (NAN)
