SEN. Ali Ndume (APC – Borno South) has donated N10m to traders affected by Sunday’s fire incident at Monday Market in Maiduguri.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN)reports that no fewer than 13,000 shops were destroyed by the fire.

Presenting the cheque during a visit to the market on Friday, Ndume urged the traders to accept the development as an act of God.

“Mr President was here and promised to support you. As lawmakers,  we will follow up through a motion,” Ndume said.

He lauded the support coming from various quarters to the traders, and urged other groups and individuals to support the victims to revive their businesses.

Ndume lauded Gov. Babagana Zulum for actions taken so far in supporting the victims, adding that there was the need for affected traders to avail themselves of opportunities provided by some government agencies giving interest- free loans to entrepreneurs, to get succour.

Responding on behalf of the traders, the General Manager of the market , Mr Mustafa Loskuri, thanked Ndume for the support and urged others to emulate him. (NAN)
