Makinde’s support group organises voter education in Oyo
General News
A professional group, called Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora (OID), has taken its voter education outreach to the electorate in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Mr Moruf Oladejo, the OID Youth Ambassador, told newsmen on Thursday in Ibadan that the group was targeting to reach hundreds of voters.
Oladejo said that the sensitisation was geared toward the re-election of Gov. Seyi Makinde for a second term.
He also said that the initiative was to appreciate the effective distribution of the dividend of democracy, continuation of people-centered policies and inclusive governance by the administration.
According to him, there is a compelling need to support the governor massively and enlighten eligible voters on how to vote to re-elect him.
He said that the sensitisation became imperative due to
the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) by INEC for the polls.
In their separate presentations, other OID representatives urged the electorate to collect their PVCs to enable them to exercise their franchise.
Olalekan Raheem, Kehinde Sanni, and Kayọde Ajani enlightened the people on how to vote, monitor, follow up and guard their votes via the modern facilities.
Other members of the group in attendance were Qudus Olayiwola, Samuel Olaseinde, Ruth Oyelade, Oluwasogo Akinpelu and Adebayo Adebanjo, among others.
The participants thanked the group for organising the programme, describing it as timely, impactful and insightful.
Some of them, including market men and women, expressed their readiness to vote massively for the governor to recireciprocate his efforts at addressing their needs. (NAN)
