21-year-old man, Sani Muhammed, who allegedly stole aluminium railing on Eko Bridge, was on Monday
brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The accused is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and sabotaging the efforts of the Federal Government.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

But the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Oladele Adebayo insisted that the accused committed the offences on April 7 at 8.00 p.m. on Eko Bridge, Lagos.

He said the accused allegedly removed the fence-like metal barrier on the bridge thereby sabotaging the effort of the government in safe guarding lives
of the people.

The offences contravened Sections 287 and 413 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr O.O. Olatunji, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum
and adjourned the case until May 7 for mention. (NAN)
