Man, 21, docked for allegedly stealing 1 bag of rice

A 21-year-old man, Emmanuel Oluwayomi, was on Friday brought before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing one big of rice valued at N67,000.

The defendant who address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of breach of peace and stealing.

The prosecutor, DSP Clement Okuiomose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 3, at about 6.30p.m, at Badagry Roundabout, Lagos.

Okuiomose said that the defendant stole one bag of rice valued at N67,000, where it was kept by the complainant, Mrs Bukola Akinola.

He said the defendant allegedly conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by causing pandemonium.

He said the offences contravened Sections 168 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr A. Afolabi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in the like sum.

Afolabi adjourned the case until March 10, for mention. (NAN)
