Man, 23, arraigned over alleged theft of motorcycle worth N350,000

A 23-year-old man, Saminu Sagir, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a Bajaj motorcycle.

The defendant, an applicant, whose house address was not provided, was arraigned before Magistrate S.Odukoya, on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mrs Esther Adesulu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 1.

Adesulu alleged that the defendant conspired with others now at large to steal a Bajaj boxer motorcycle belonging to the complainant, one Yinusa Abdullahi.

The prosecution alleged  that the stolen motorcycle was valued at N350,000.

Adesulu said that  the offences contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Odukoya granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until July 5 for trial. (NAN)
