A 23-year-old man, Henry Ogunbayo, on Friday, appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly unlawful entrance and stealing.

The defendant is standing trial before Magistrate L.K.J Layeni on a five-count charge of unlawful entrance and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, said that the defendant committed the offences on April 4, May 5 and September 2022 at different places.

In counts one and two, the defendant was alleged to have unlawfully entered into the premises of one Faith Julius and stolen five crates of Heineken beer, valued at N72,000.

In count three, the defendant was said to have stolen a black 24-inch Samsung television from a hotel in Igbede, Ojo, valued N30,000.

In count four, the defendant was alleged to have, on April 4 at Ifelodun in Igbede new site, stolen a Techno Pop 6 smart phone, valued at N70,000, belonging to one Mr Monday Ogbuchi.

In count five, the defendant was said to have stolen a yellow Elepaq 3.5KVA generator, valued at N200,000, belonging to one Mr Mathias Harrison.

The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravene the provisions of Sections 287 and 308(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to counts one, two, three and five of the charges, while pleading guilty to count four.

The court, consequently, fixed June 7 for facts and sentencing of the defendant based on his guilty plea. (NAN)
