Man, 25, in court over alleged stealing, breach of peace

A 25-year-old man, Muhammed Kabiru, was on Wednesday brought before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing a techno phone and breach of public peace.
Kabiru, of no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and breach of public peace.
The Prosecutor, Akpan Nkem, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 15 at about 10.15a.m at a checkpoint on Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Nkem said that the defendant stole one Techno Canon phone valued at N52, 000 belonging to one Adebimpe Rashidat.
“The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by using charms on the complainant,” the prosecutor said.
Nkem said that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Lazarus Hotepo, admitted the defendant to bail of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Hotepo adjourned the case until Nov.17 for further hearing.
