Man, 26, docked for allegedly attempting to steal from car

THE police on Monday arraigned a 26-year-old man, Paul Ojebo, before a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly attempting to steal from a car.
The defendant, who claimed to be a student and a resident of Karu, Abuja, is being tried for criminal trespass and attempted stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that one Mrs Mandy Kaunan reported the matter at the Maitama Police Station, Abuja, on June 13.
He said that the complainant alleged that she parked her Toyota Camry with registration number ABC177TN at City Park, Abuja, to relax.
The prosecutor said that the complainant discovered while relaxing that the defendant entered her car, picked her purse and started ransacking it.
He said that the offence contravened Sections 348, 95 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Inuwa Maiwa granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 and one surety in like sum.
Maiwada adjourned the case until June 28, for substantive hearing. (NAN)
