Man, 29, docked for allegedly representing himself as army officer

THE police on Friday, arraigned a 29-year-old ma, Pelumi Ayodele, in  an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly representing himself as an Army officer.

Ayodele, with no fixed address, was facing a one count charge of impersonation, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Toyin Ibrahim told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 22, at Bodija area, Ibadan.

Ibrahim said the defendant falsely represented himself to be a serving officer of the Nigerian Army by wearing complete army uniform and regalia.

He said the offence contravened Section 109 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Ayofe said that one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant.

He adjourned the case until Sept. 4, for hearing. (NAN)
