Man, 30, docked for alleged threat to life, unlawful land grabbing in Osun

A 30-year-old man, Niremi Musa was on Monday docked before an Osogbo Chief Magistrate’s Court in Osun for alleged threat to life and unlawful land grabbing.

Police Prosecutor, Insp. Rasaki Lamidi, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence sometimes in 2021 at Oke-Erinso area, Iragbiji in Osun.

Lamidi said the defendant, whose address was not provided, forcefully entered a land belonging to the Faronbi’s family, which was in the custody of one Mr Johnson Faronbi.

He said the defendant entered into the land and damaged some kolanut trees and other economic trees without the consent of the Faronbi’s family.

“The defendant also threatened to take the life of Faronbi and his family members after being granted police administrative bail,” Lamidi said.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 451, 86 and 133 (9) of the criminal code, laws of Osun, 2002.

He said the offence also contravened Section 4, 2, Sub-section 3 of the Osun Forceful Entry and Illegal Occupation of Land and Properties (Prohibition) 2019.

The Defence Counsel, Mr B. Adewale, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in the like sum.

Ayilara ordered that the defendant should be remanded at Ilesa Correctional Centre should he fail to meet his bail conditions.

He adjourned the case until Oct. 3 for mention. (NAN)
