An unemployed, Lukmon Ogunbote, who allegedly stole a car worth N700,000 was on Thursday brought before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ court in Lagos State.

Ogunbote, 30, whose address was not provided in court, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, SP Gbemileke Agoi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb.15, at 2 p.m. around High School Junction in Ikorodu.

Agoi said the accused stole and sold the car belonging to the complainant, Mr Kabiru Oseni, and converted the money to his personal use.

“The accused stole the car and sold it and refused to remit its proceeds to the complainant,” he said.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 287 (9) and (10) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate E. O. Ogunkanmi granted the accused bail in the sum of N300,000 with  two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Oct. 11. (NAN)
