Man, 30, in court over alleged theft of N3.6m batteries

THE Police in Lagos on Wednesday, arraigned 30-year-old Sode Elogy, at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court over the alleged theft of 127 pieces of 100 amps motor batteries valued at N3,683,000.
Elogy, whose address was not given, was being tried on a two-count charge of stealing and breach of peace.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Ayodele Adeoshun, told the court that the accused committed the alleged offences on Oct.12, at the Seme Border area of the state.
He said that the accused stole 127 pieces of 100 amps motor batteries valued at N3, 683, 000.00, property of one Obinna Ndulue.
According to him, the accused also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by instigating members of the public against the complainant, when he demanded to know the whereabouts of his missing batteries.
He said that the offence contravened Sections 285 and 166 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty of the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Lazarus Hotepo, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Dec.6, for further hearing.
