AN Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 37-year-old man, Olamide Jimoh, at the Kirikiri  Correctional Centre  for allegedly defiling his  neighbour’s  eight-year-old  daughter.

The court’s chief magistrate, Mrs G. O. Anifowose, refused to grant the plea of the defendant.

Anifowose ordered that the defendant should be kept in the custody of the Correctional Centre until Jan. 8, 2020.

She also directed the prosecutor to send a duplicate file of the case to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs) office for legal advice.

The defendant, who resides at No.13, Popoola Crescent, Iju-Ishaga in Lagos State, is facing a charge of defilement.

Earlier, the prosecutor, W/Sgt. Felicia Okwori, had told the court that Jimoh committed the offence in his residence.

Okwori alleged that Jimoh defiled his neighbour’s daughter when she was eight-year-old and threatened to kill her if she should tell anyone.

“The girl’s mother got to know about the matter from someone else that the defendant told and the girl later confirmed the incident to her mother,” she said.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
