Man, 46, docked for alleged N585,000 employment scam

A 46-year old Adekola Adeyemi, appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday in Ibadan for alleged employment scam worth N585,000.

The Police charged Adeyemi, who lives in Challenge area of Ibadan, for alleged conspiracy, fraud and stealing.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Patricia Adetuyibi granted the defendant bail  in the sum of N500, 000, with two sureties in like sum.

Adetuyibi said one of the sureties must present a bank statement in the last three months.

She adjourned the matter until Dec. 21,  for hearing.

 The  Prosecution Counsel, Insp. S. B. Hammed told the court that Adeyemi and one other at large allegedly conspired together to commit the offence .

Hammed said,  on Feb 5, 2021, Adekola allegedly  obtained the sum of N585,000 from one Olanrewaju Onaolapo on the pretence  that  he would secure  employment  at Dangote Group of Companies for him.

He said the defendant allegedly knew same to be false.

Hammed alleged that the defendant  stole the money and converted it into his personal use.

Hammed said the offence contravened Section 390(9), 419, and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000. (NAN)
