Man, 50, docked for allegedly damaging 2 women’s property

A 50-year-old man, Adekunle Ayegbo, was, on Monday, arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly assaulting and damaging the property of two women, worth millions of naira.


Ayegbo, whose address was not provided, was charged with assault, malicious damage and stealing, to which he, however, pleaded not guilty.


The Prosecutor, Insp Sikiru Opeleye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in 2021, around Bodija, area of Ibadan.
Opeleye said that the defendant assaulted the two women: Esther Ibidunni and Titilayo Olabode and damaged their property.
He further stated that the defendant damaged the property of Ibidunni, worth N70 million and stole her valuables, including pumping machine, grinding machines, generator, microwaves and others, all totalling N1 million.
Opeleye added that the defendant also assaulted Olabode by removing and damaging her eye glasses, worth N15,000.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 86, 451 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N5 million and two sureties each in like sum.
She, thereafter, adjourned the case till July 8 for hearing. (NAN)
