Man, 52, docked for allegedly stealing iron rods worth N2m

A 52-year-old man, Mutiu Iyanda, was on Monday arraigned in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing iron rods worth N2 million.

Iyanda, whose address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, DSP Adewale Amos, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on April 22, at about 3.00 p.m, at Egbeda area, Ibadan.

Amos alleged that the defendant stole seven tonness of 12mm iron rods and three tonnes of 16mm iron rods worth N2 million from one Taofeek Adegun.

He said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mr Maruff Mudashiru, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million and two reliable sureties in like sum.

Mudashiru ordered that the sureties must provide evidence of three years tax clearance.

He adjourned the case until July 4 for hearing. (NAN)
