Man allegedly steals sewing machines

A 24-year-old man, Daniel Segun,  on Wednesday appeared  before an Akure Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing sewing machines and other items, all worth N355,000.

Segun is facing charges of burglary and stealing but he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Joshua Alademomi, said that Segun committed the offences on Feb. 11.

Alademomi said that the defendant stole three sewing machines, a Phillip pressing iron, 500 yards of fabrics and two mannequins.

”He stole the items from a shop belonging to Abimbola Akinmusere and Esther Odofin,” he said.

The prosecutor said that the offences were punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs R.O. Olumilua, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties.

Olumilua adjourned the case until March 13 for trial. (NAN)
