Man arrested for burning maid’s buttocks with hot iron in Imo

OPERATIVES of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a man, Uzoma Egbema, for using a hot iron to burn the buttocks of his 12-year-old maid, Chimkamso Ekeocha, on allegations that she rode his children’s bicycle. 

The man was arrested with the assistance of an activist, Darlington Chidera Ibekwe when the story went viral on social media.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect has been detained at the New Owerri Police Station. 

The police spokesman in the state, CSP Mike Abattam, who confirmed the incident, said that the man would be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further action.

He added that the maid had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
