Man docked for allegedly assaulting neighbour

A 35-year-old man, Kelvin Dimi on Monday was brought before a Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly assaulting his neighbour.
The defendant who resides in Jahi 2, Abuja is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal force and assault/ wrongful restraint.
The prosecutor, Ferdinand Orji, told the court that the complainant Daniel Anigbo of the same address reported the matter at the Mabushi Police Station on Aug.12.
Orji also alleged that on the same date while the complainant and his plumber were trying to fix his water pipe, the defendant said“ the complainant had connected a pipe to his own and must disconnect it”.
The prosecutor also said that an argument ensued and in the process, the defendant blocked, held and hit the complainant.
He further alleged that during police investigation, the defendant confessed to have committed the offence.
According to Orji, the offence contravenes the provision of sections 265 and 256 of the Penal Code.
The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The judge, Mohammed Wakili therefore admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 and one reliable surety with means of identification in like sum.
Wakili also adjourned the matter until Oct.4, for hearing (NAN)
