Man docked for allegedly stealing 107 bags of cement

A 32-year-old man, Solomon Gambo, was docked in an Upper Area Court Gwagwalada, FCT, for allegedly stealing 107 bags of cement.
The police charged Gambo, who lives in Angwan Fulani, FCT with criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, theft by servant and cheating.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Bunmi Hasstrup reported the matter at Iddo police station on Oct. 8.
Tanko Said that the defendant conspired with one Elisha, now at large and stole the complainant’s 107 bags of cement worth N416,800.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97, 312, 287 and 322 of the Penal Code
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Judge, Malam Sani Umar, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with one reasonable and reliable surety in like sum that must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
Umar said that the address of the surety must be verified by the court staff and must provide two recent passport photographs.
He ordered that the surety must provide photocopy of valid means of identification and in default the defendant should be remanded in prison custody.
Umar then adjourned the case until Dec. 7, for hearing. (NAN)
