Man docked for allegedly stealing dryer, other items worth N190,000

A 59-year-old man, Uba Osuji, on Wednesday appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing some items worth N190,000.
Osuji, whose address was not provided in court, is facing charges of obtaining under false pretext, break-in, stealing and a breach of the peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge.
The prosecutor, Insp. Cousin Adams, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 30, at 10.00a.m., at No.35d, Abule Nla Road, Ebute Meta.
Adams said that the defendant broke into the shop of Mrs Kafilat Sulaimon and stole a pedicure machine, a weaving machine, a dryer and various wigs, all valued at N190,000.
Adams said the offences contravened Sections 168(d), 287, 309 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years’ jail term for stealing.
The magistrate, Mr Alex Komolafe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Komolafe adjourned the case until Sept. 20 for mention. (NAN)
