THE police on Friday arraigned a 38-year-old man, Enesi Wilfred‎, in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, over alleged misappropriation and obtaining N1.25million under false pretext.

The defendant, who resides in Dutse, Abuja, was docked on a count charge of cheating, an offence he denied committing.

The prosecutor, John Okpa, told the court that the matter was reported at the Kubwa Police Station on Dec. 29 by Rasheed Enesi.

He said that the defendant fraudulently deceived the complainant to give him N1. 25million sometime in Aug.2017.

According to him, the said sum was for purchase of a Toyota Camry car, but instead the defendant dishonestly converted the money to his personal use.

Okpa said that N100, 000 was recovered from the defendant in the course of police investigations, adding that the offence contravened Section 322 of the Penal Code.‎

The judge, Abdulwahab Mohammed, granted the defendant bail in the sum of ‎N800, 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the matter until Aug. 23 for hearing
