Man docked over alleged rape of 31-year-old woman

The Police in Ogun on Tuesday docked a 40-year-old man, Olalekan Yinka, before an Ota Magistrates’ Court over the alleged rape of a woman, aged 31.

Yinka, who lives at 16, Igbele Durojaiye St., Ota, is facing a count charge of rape, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha told the court that accused allegedly raped the lady at his residence on Dec. 2, at 9.30 p.m.

Mustapha said that the offence contravened Section 360 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

Chief Magistrate Matthew Akinyemi admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N140, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Akinyemi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed.

In addition, the sureties should also show evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government, as part of the bail conditions.

He adjourned the case until Jan. 7, for further hearing. (NAN)
