Man in court for alleged breach of trust, cheating

A 25-year-old man, Joseph Manasseh, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged breach of trust.

The defendant, who resides at No. 65 Baka Str., Television, Kaduna State, is facing a two-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that one Obute Aloysius, of Nitel Quarters, Television, Kaduna State, reported the matter at Sabon Tasha Police Station on June 22.

According to Leo, the defendant was employed as a supervisor by the complainant in his company, RAYD Global Solution, located at Sabon Tasha Kaduna.

He said the defendant was posted to supervise one of the company’s branches at Narayi High Cost, Kaduna, where it was discovered that he sold 436 empty crates of beer valued at N436,000 without remitting the money.

The prosecutor added that during investigation, the defendant confessed to have committed the crime.

Leo said the offences contravened sections 296 and 164 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

Emmanuel adjourned the case until July 28, for mention. (NAN)
