Man in court over alleged theft of N241,000 goods

THE police in Lagos have dragged a 28-year-old man, Bright Chisom, before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing.
The defendant was arraigned before the Magistrate, Mr L K J Layeni, on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence, with others who are now at large, on Oct. 2, at the Shibiri area of Ojo.
He alleged that the defendant stole a Tiger generator valued N120,000, a 12.5kg gas cylinder valued N60,000, two pressing irons valued N25,000, a toasting machine valued N25,000 and clothing materials valued N11,000.
The total value of the stolen goods is N241,000 and are said to be owned by a complainant, one Kadijat Oyinlola.
The offence contravenes the provisions of sections 287 and 307 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case until Nov. 18, for mention. (NAN)
