A 26-year-old man, Azeez Jimon, who allegedly stole a Techno phone valued at N23,000 and cash of N4000 on Thursday appeared at an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.

Jimon of no fixed address is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the accused and others still at large, committed the offences on July 7 at about 3 a.m in GRA Estate, Ota.

Gbesi said that the accused and his accomplices conspired among themselves to steal a Techno phone valued at N23, 000 and cash of N4000, all valued at N27, 000.

“The accused and his accomplices were caught in the act of committing the offence by the neighbors and was handed over to the Police Station at Sango-Ota,’’ he said.

Gbesi said that the offence contravened Sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, granted the accused bail of N20,000 with a surety in like sum.

He said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun government. (NAN)
