Man jailed 24 months for stealing household items

AN Area Court in Jos, on Monday, sentenced Gideon Simon, to 24 months imprisonment for stealing household items valued N300,000.
The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The judge, however, gave the convict an option of N300,000 fine or go to prison for 24 months in the alternative.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp. Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported at the B Division Police Station, Jos on Aug.5 by one Mr Godwin Odugbo.
He said the convict trespassed into Odugbo’s home and stole a standing fan, one 12 spring mattress and a gas cylinder all valued N300,000.
The prosecutor told the court that during police investigation, the convict confessed to have committed the offence and the stolen items were recovered from the convict.
He said the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria. (NAN)
