Judiciary
A 42-year-old manager, Adungba Taiwo, was on Tuesday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court, Ogun, for allegedly stealing 35 pieces of iron doors from his employer.
Taiwo, whose address was not provided, is facing a count charge of stealing.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 22 at 5.00 p.m. at No.12, Aroma Street, near Odo Eran in Ota.
Adaraloye said that the defendant sold the 35 pieces of iron doors worth N805, 000 and did not remit the money to his employer.
He said that the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006, which stipulates three years’ imprisonment for stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adeyemi, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N500, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Adeyemi ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed and have evidence of tax payment to Ogun State Government.
She adjourned the case until Oct. 20 for hearing. (NAN)
