MINISTER of Defence, Retired Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi, has urged Muslims to pray for an end to insecurity in the country.

This is contained in a statement issued by Special Assistant to the Minister on Media and Publicity, Mohammad Abdulkadri, in Abuja on Sunday.

The statement quoted the minister as making the appeal in his message to Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid-Maulud celebrations.

Magashi rejoiced with Muslims across the globe on the special occasion of the celebration.

According to him, the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s (S.A.W.) birthday brings refreshing memories of his virtues of patience, prayer, piety, purity and perseverance, saying that all these are worthy of emulation by all Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

The defence minister implored the Muslims to seize the opportunity of the celebration to be better Nigerians, pray for an enduring peace and be instrumental to an end to insecurity in the country.

These, he said, they could do by being in the vanguards of peace, which is the creed and the cornerstone of Islam.

He prayed Allah to be with President Muhammadu Buhari in his strive and stride to emplace lasting peace, progress and prosperity in the country, especially now that the 2023 general elections were fast approaching. (NAN)
