Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not free because he refused to betray or disappoint Igbo
Opinion
By Prophet Michael Ositadinma
THE conditions presented to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian government for him to get freedom are the reason he is still in the DSS torture centre in Abuja. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has refused to put his signature on a paper that will jeopardise the freedom of his people, just to regain his personal freedom. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has refused to embrace his own freedom so that I and you can be free. On what basis is his freedom when he can’t speak of Biafra again or push for freedom? Freedom is a right of Indigenous people, and he can’t put that in danger. His enemies will be the ones to succumb and do the right thing and not Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
When we talk about Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and what is going on around him, some people seem to trivialize the sacrifice this man has put in for the freedom of our people. Some people even try to rope him with some selfish siblings whom they know are completely different from their leader.
Like it or not, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has given in something most of us can’t give in. His children would have loved to be with their dad, but they are there growing up without him. Knowing for a fact that they have a father suffering somewhere in Africa’s most corrupt country. While many eat with their families, enjoy the company of their wives and bed each other, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is in solitary confinement being tortured, denied food, denied medical attention and being refused ordinary reading glasses.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is the real deal. He is the true Eastern leader. He is the greatest voice ever in the East. He vowed he would not disappoint us, and he has been true to his words.
I stand with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. And I join millions of other good-spirited individuals to demand his freedom.
