Ejike Mbaka, Catholic priest and founder, Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria, stirs controversy with his 2016 prophesy that some corrupt officials in the past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan will plot to kill President Muhammadu Buhari because of his war against corruption

HIS prophesy about former President Goodluck Jonathan being defeated in 2015 presidential election generated a lot of controversy even though it came to pass. This may have buoyed Ejike Mbaka, Catholic Priest and founder, Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria, AMEN, to come up with another controversial prophesy for President Mohammadu Buhari whom he predicted will win the 2015 election. On Friday, January 1, he prophesied that alleged beneficiaries of massive corruption perpetrated under President Jonathan’s administration would plot to kill President Buhari.

Mbaka, who made the revelations during his New Year Prophetic Message, accused President Jonathan, governors and National Assembly members during his administration for allegedly squandering the country’s resources to the detriment of critical infrastructure that could have alleviated the sufferings of the masses.

“Many people are planning as it is revealed to kill Buhari. There are many plans on how to eliminate his life so that corruption, embezzlement will continue. But the Lord says, God who put you there, will not forsake you. Be firm, resolute, focused, and unbiased, and refused to be intimidated and distracted. Go ahead and war against evil. Buhari, go ahead and war against corruption. God and His people are behind you. You are the answer of the prayers of the people,” he said.

with the Mbaka’s recent prophecy has elicited strong reactions from different people. While some people side with the prophesy others promptly dismiss it with a wave of hand.

Supporting Mbaka, the Buhari South-East Youth Movement, BSEYM, threatened to shut down the country if anything happens to the President. The group advised anyone or group with such evil plan to have a rethink because such will spell doom for the country.

In a statement signed by Nwabueze Onwuneme, its leader, the group expressed its support for President Buhari’s anti-corruption war. It called on anyone with any knowledge of any ploy against the President or the country to immediately divulge such to law enforcement agents.

According to the group, Mbaka’s prediction should not be dismissed with a wave of hands because corruption really fights back dirty when attacked. It called on all well-meaning Nigerians to resist the evil work of “this small group that wants to kill this country,” and which had impoverished the masses, and support President Buhari in his effort to sanitise the country.

But the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, a non-governmental organisation, dismissed Mbaka’s prophesy as being sensational and rumour peddling. The group, which described the prophesy as a “delusional fantasy” vowed to drag Mbaka to pope Francis if the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria fails to reprimand him and stop him from associating actively and notoriously with politicians at both national and regional levels within the next 21 days.

HURIWA in a statement jointly signed by Emmanuel Onwubiko, national coordinator, and Zainab Yusuf, National Media Affairs director, urged the Nigerian Catholic hierarchy to sanction Mbaka for abandoning his sacred duty and delving into politics while hiding under the canopy of his Catholic’s priestly vocation.

The group while accusing Mbaka of engaging in cheap and childish rumour mongering, enjoined the leadership of the Catholic Church to call him to order because he has become a political loose cannon who could separate sermons from partisan politics. The group noted that Mbaka’s prophesy lacks scientific and empirical evidence and smacks of sensationalism and therefore qualifies as an unmitigated emotional fallacy and a misdirected outburst, which should be disregarded.

“Fr Mbaka is putting his priestly calling and office to the pecuniary services of the All Progressives Congress of President Buhari because it is barely two weeks he was photographed smiling with his political host in the Presidential mansion of President Muhammadu Buhari that he emerged from his delusional hibernation to manufacture cock-and-bull story about some plots to assassinate Mr. President by corrupt politicians. Is Fr Mbaka a judge who has passed judgement over cases of alleged graft involving any immediate past political office holders and adjudged them guilty of corrupt practices?

“Is Fr Mbaka unaware that as the Commander-In-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces that President Muhammadu Buhari is the most protected citizen in Nigeria now with hundreds of well armed and highly trained professional guards drawn from the Nigerian Military and the Secret Police headed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s Kinsman? Is Fr Mbaka unaware that Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari is waging a counter terror war and that the armed Islamists have vowed in several media recordings to kill not just the Commander in chief but officials of government? This Mbaka’s whitewash must be consigned to the dustbins without further delay,” HURIWA said.
