Mechanic docked over gear box theft

A 39- year-old mechanic, Monday Tajudeen, on Monday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing a Nissan car gear box, valued at N150,000.
Tajudeen, whose address was not known, is facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Akpan Ikem, told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 24, 2018 at Origan Estate, Oko Afo, Badagry.
Ikem said the gear box belonged to one Mrs Ruth Adeyomi.
“The accused was supposed to help the complainant fix the gear box into her car; but instead of doing that, he sold it and disappeared into thin air,” he said.
Ikem said the offence is punishable under Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Jimoh Adefioye, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 and a surety in like sum and adjourned the case till Sept. 10, for further hearing. (NAN)
