NUJ congratulates Sina Thorpe on his appointment as permanent secretary

THE Lagos Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has congratulated Sina Thorpe, director, public affairs, Lagos State ministry of information and strategy on his appointment as the new Permanent Secretary of the ministry. Thorpe’s appointment was announced by the state government on Monday, January 20.

In his congratulatory message, Qasim Akinreti, chairman, NUJ Lagos State Council, said that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has given the NUJ and journalism profession a befitting new year gift. “I personally cherish this gift at the most auspicious time in the history of the NUJ.  Surely, this new year will be a remarkable year of career elevation for our members. Governor Sanwo-Olu, I appreciate you, Sir.

“Remarkably, the office of the New PS was beehive of activities and celebrations on Monday evening as I joined the celebrations with the staff and members of the union, including the outgoing permanent secretary of the ministry, general manager Lagos Traffic Radio, Tayo Akanle, and host of others. We pray to Almighty God to give Sina Thorpe the wisdom and sound health to discharge his responsibilities,” he said.

Akinreti said the new permanent secretary has been a resourceful, energetic and thorough professional. “I attest to these good qualities of this resounding leader and administrator per excellence in my relationship with him over the years. The union under my watch will continue to support the new Permanent Secretary and laudable programmes for our members at the ministry of information and strategy. Best wishes to you my dearest new Permanent Secretary, Sina Thorpe.”
