Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, NAUTH, chapter has applauded the impressive health indexes recorded in Anambra State.

The association made the commendation through, Eric Ihekwoba, its chairman, when members of the body paid a visit to Joe Akabuike, the commissioner for Health, in his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

According to Ihekwoba, the notable health indices where improvement has been made include provision of accessible primary healthcare centres across the state, increased immunisation coverage and functional general hospitals.

He, however, observed that the score card equally showed improvements in Ndi Anambra health indices.

Responding, the Health commissioner thanked the group for the visit and for identifying with successes recorded in the health sector, noting that the achievements were recorded due to Governor Willie Obiano’s huge investment in the sector.

He said that government was leaving no stones unturned in its desire to achieve universal and affordable health for Ndi Anambra.

Meanwhile, chairman of the association said the purpose of the visit was to explore areas where the association could partner the state in delivering health programmes to Ndi Anambra.

He said the association had in the past carried out medical outreaches to various communities in the state, and wish to continue to provide more support to government, using their wealth of experience of its members in different areas of medicine.

Ihekwoba pleaded with the government to partner the association in carrying out more medical outreaches through the provision of drugs, vehicles to transport equipment and members to remote communities, where outreaches would to be held.

The association used the visit to congratulate Akabuike for his reappointment as commissioner for health and hailed him for representing the medical doctors well in Anambra State Executive Council.
