JOHN Mikel Obi, the Nigerian Super Eagles’ skipper, has boosted the Nigerian team to the Amputee World Cup in Mexico.
The China-based skipper answered to the distress call of the Nigerian team by picking the flight tickets for two players and also kitting the team with Adidas jerseys.
As a result of paucity of fund as the team is not attached to the Nigeria Football Federation, it had to depend on public donation to finance its trip to Mexico where the competition is holding.
The Nigerian team had missed two editions in the past and was at the brink of losing its status in the competition if it abstains from the Mexico event.
The Amputee World Cup in Mexico begins on Saturday, October 27. The Nigerian team left in two batches before Obi opted to pick the fight tickets of the remaining squad members and also kit the entire team.
