Abubakar Dangiwa Umar, retired army colonel, administrator, businessman, 67, September 21. Born in Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State, he was educated at Birnin-Kebbi Primary School, 1957-1963; Government College, Sokoto, 1964-1972; Royal Armour School, Kentucky, 1978-1979; Bayero University, Kano, 1979-1981 and Harvard University, USA, 1988-1989. He joined the Nigerian Army in 1967 and was troop leader, 3 Recce Regiment, NA, in 1972. He was military governor of Kaduna State, 1985-1988.
