EKPERIKPE Ekpo, Minister of State, Petroleum Resources (Gas), says that the KGG facility and the Nedogas Plant will aid the processing of natural gas more efficiently in the country.
Declaring the facilities officially open on Thursday in Kwale in Delta state, the minister said that the facility would increase both the domestic gas supply and for export.
According to Ekpo, the facility represents an advancement in the nation’s gas development and promises to significantly boost the nation’s economy, foster industry expansion and ensure energy security.
“In addition to being an industry development, the KGG and the Nedogas Plant mark a dramatic improvement in our country’s capacity to extract and utilize natural gas resources properly.
In his speech at the inauguration ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, Omatsola Ogbe, expressed extreme excitement at the inexhaustible prospects of the facility.
Ogbe noted that the successful completion of the Nedogas Plant and the Kwale Gas Gathering Facility is a testament to the hard work and close collaboration of all stakeholders involved in the projects.
“This achievement is not only a technical milestone, but a triumph of partnership and shared vision. It confirms that the government and the private sector and local communities can collaborate effectively to bring value to the economy.
“To demonstrate their success, the Board is already considering participation in the phase 2 project by Nedogas Ltd, which is aimed at doubling the capacity of the KGG facility. As we celebrate with Nedogas today, let me seize the opportunity to challenge promoters of other NCDMB’s 3rd party investments, especially those that are near completion and have not started operations, to speed up their projects so that Nigerians can derive the intended benefits. Looking ahead, the NCDMB will continue to support similar initiatives that promote local content, drive economic growth and improve the quality of life for all Nigerians.
“We will continue to advocate for policies and practices that encourage the participation of Nigerian companies and professionals in the oil and gas industry, ensuring that the benefits of our resources contribute to the development of our nation,” he added.
Similarly, the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, commended Nedogas, all the federal government agencies that partnered to ensure the success of the project as well as the host community.
The Governor, who was represented by the Delta State Deputy Governor Monday John Onyeme, said that the facility would improve the availability of energy in the country and also improve energy accessibility.
He called for the replication of the projects in other parts of the country where gas is still flared so as to create a better and more conducive environment for all.
The KGG facility, which is Located in Umusam Community, close to Kwale in Delta State, is constructed by Nedogas Development Company Limited, NDCL, a Joint venture company between Xenergi Limited and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB.
