THE Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Owan Enoh will meet with presidents, secretaries, and technical directors of Olympic-bound sports federations on Thursday in Abuja.

The strategic meeting is meant to help the ministry fine-tune its preparations towards a successful Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Diana-Mary Nsan, Special Assistant on Media to the minister made this known in a statement on Wednesday.

According to her, the meeting will also involve relevant bodies such as the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC), Paralympic Federation of Nigeria and the Ministerial Podium Performance Committee to forge better synergy.

She said that the meeting is one amongst the various strategies of the ministry to ensure Team Nigeria achieves success at the upcoming Games.

“The programme is exclusively focused on working with federations that have qualified to participate at the Olympic Games.

“Deliberations will be laser-focused on how to achieve the Nigeria’s objectives set forth for this year’s Olympics,” she said.

The minister had highlighted that Nigeria deserves another run of gold medal haul at the Olympics, just as it did in Atlanta 1996.

He reiterated the need for the country to even surpass the record it set 28 years ago in the U.S.

The meeting comes as another timely catalyst to prepare the nation, federations and athletes towards ultimate success in Paris. (NAN)
