Ministry reiterates commitment to reposition Nigerian youths

MINISTRY of Youth Development has reiterated commitment to reposition Nigerian youths to enable them play significant roles toward socio-economic development of the country.

The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Donuma Ahmed, said this when Mr Yunus Sonmez, the Director-General of Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF), paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja on Thursday.

Ahmed said the ministry welcome ideas and programmes that would empower youths and give them the opportunity to network with their counterparts around the world.

He added that the Federal Government is ready to collaborate with ICYF on youth empowerment to make the younger generation productive and self-reliant.

Earlier, Sonmez said ICYF, with headquarters in Turkey, deals with issues on economic, social and cultural growth.

He added that the organisation has a youth empowerment programme and encourages ministers of youth from Sub Saharan Africa  to apply for the programme.

He, however, explained that “the main aim of visiting Nigeria is because of our lftar (Ramadan breakfast) proramme which we want to hold here, and to develop relationships with relevant authorities.(NAN)
