Monarch canvasses establishment of higher institutions in Omupo

THE Olomu of Omupo, Oba Yakubu Buari, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara, has canvassed the establishment of higher institutions in the community.

The Olomu, who made the call during a news briefing to commemorate his 10th anniversary on the throne, asserted that higher institutions will bring development to the community.

According to him, Omupo is one of the highly educated communities in Kwara, as it boasts of 10 graduates in every household.

He added that the community has a conducive environment to host higher institutions, be it a varsity, polytechnic, and colleges of education.

The Royal  father said that even satellite campuses can be sited in Omupo, adding that this will further bring about development of Kwara state as a whole.

The Monarch also appealed to the state government to establish a radio station as it is also a harbinger of development and information.

“Information is what is making the world into a global village, and radio is the closest to the grassroots.

“We also appeal for the establishment of radio station in our community, which will bring information on government activities closer to Kwara communities, ” he said.

Buari also described Omupo Kingdom as a place where women were highly revered for their roles as mothers and confidants.

According to him, no indigene of Omupo plays lightly with the role of women, as they are regarded as fosters of peace.

“Our women are highly revered, you must never underestimate the role of a woman and that is why women in our community are paragons.

“We must always bring them along in whatever we do so as to be successful, ” he said. (NAN)
