More Bodies Recovered at Helicopter Crash Site

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, on Thursday, August 13, recovered two more bodies from the site of Wednesday’s helicopter crash in Lagos.

Four persons had earlier been confirmed dead in the accident, reportedly occurred at about 3:30 pm on Wednesday, August 12, when chopper plunged into the Lagos lagoon along Oworonshoki area of the state.

The NEMA operatives resumed the search for two missing persons on Thursday morning, but the searchers said they picked out three bodies from the Lagos lagoon, where the Bristow Helicopter into Wednesday, August 12.

The helicopter, said to be carrying 12 passengers, took off from an oil rig in the South-South and was billed to arrive in Lagos at about 3.35pm, but crashed into the lagoon a few minutes before its due arrival time.

On Wednesday, four bodies were recovered, while six persons, who sustained varying degrees of ‎injuries, were rescued and then transported to the Gbagada General Hospital, for treatment.

It was also learnt that the wreckage of the helicopter had been located deep inside the lagoon.

Aviation authorities said details of the incident would be released soon.
