THE people of Ojoto in Idemil- South Local Government Area, Anambra State have been assured of government assistance in seeking justice in the gruesome murder of one of their daughters Mrs Ifeoma Ajuluchukwu.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ify Obinabo gave this assurance in her office when she received a cross section of residents from Ojoto Community who were protesng the alleged killing of their daughter, Mrs Ifeoma Ajuluchukwu by her step son.
The protesters who came in their numbers bore placards with various inscriptions on them and were obviously distressed.
They solicited the assistance of Anambra State Government in ensuring justice is meted out to the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
Addressing the protesters, lady Obinabo thanked them for choosing the right channel to air their grievances, assuring them of government’s assistance in getting justice for the deceased.
“We swung into action immediately we received wind of the news, especially when we heard that the alledged perpetrator of the crime went behind the back to arrest community members who condemned the act because of his influence.
“The Soludo led administration condemns seriously such rascality as well as people taking laws into their hands. I can assure you that this will get to the governor’s table and wife of the governor too and the matter will be pursued to its logical conclusion,” She noted.
The Commissioner thanked the traditional ruler of Ojoto and indeed the entire community for showing concern on this matter and for being proactive.
She wondered why some people have deafened their conscience and feel no remorse for committing crime, not minding the fact that every action has its consequences.
Earlier in his submission, the leader of the group, Prince Emeka Nwabunike expressed appreciation to the commissioner for showing interest in the matter and for her proactiveness, even before the community got involved.
“Your immediate intervention in the matter spurred us into carrying out further investigations on our own. We also had to involve all the parties in the matter, video evidences were also reviewed. In the end, it became obvious that Mrs Ifeoma Ajuluchukwu was murdered and she needed justice,” he submitted.
Prince Nwabunike assured the commissioner that the community is solidly behind her and pleaded with her to use her good office to look into this case to enable the deceased to get the justice she deserved.
Late Mrs Ifeoma Ajuluchukwu allegedly died as a result of injuries inflicted upon her by the step son for a yet to be established scuffle. The Anambra State Government has waded into the matter and it will be pursued through the judicial system.
