MUSHIN Local Government has restated its support to the Federal Government’s National Social Safety-NET Programme created for grassroots residents in easing mode of distribution of social welfare packages.

Mr Emmanuel Bamigboye, the Executive Chairman of the local government area, said in a statement on Tuesday that the ongoing program would allow the government to determine the mode of distributing infrastructure and welfare packages to various communities in the country.

“The ongoing enumeration of poor and vulnerable households in Mushin will help the Federal Government ease the mode of distribution of social welfare package to the grassroots residents.

“The program has started for a while and a lot of data have been recorded by the enumerators who are carefully selected by the government.

“The exercise is supervised by the state government. Recently, residents of Mushin were enumerated by enumerators of the program such as Abeokuta CDA, Omobola CDA, and others,’’ he said.

The council chairman said that people who were registered were advised to be patient with the Federal Government as the social welfare package would be disbursed to them soon.

He said the exercise would continue as other areas in Mushin had yet to be enumerated.

“We supported the exercise and we advise residents to cooperate with the enumerators so that they can be one of the beneficiaries.

“We thank the state and Federal Government for the lofty idea to reduce poverty level in Nigeria,” he added.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that National Social Safety Net System is to strengthen and consolidate the building blocks of a safety net system at the national and state level that can deliver targeted support to poor households across Nigeria.
