MYANMAR exported more than 1.35 million tons of beans and pulses in nearly 10 months of the 2022-23 fiscal year beginning in April last year.

This is according to the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday.

From April 1, last year to Jan. 20 this year, the country earned over 1.05 billion dollars from the exports of beans and pulses, the ministry’s figures showed.

During the period, Myanmar shipped over 1.18 million tons of beans and pulses via sea routes and transported over 170,804 tonnes of beans and pulses through land borders, the ministry’s data said.

The Southeast Asian country usually does most of its foreign trade through sea routes as it has a long coastline.

It conducted border trade with China, C and India.

Beans and pulses were Myanmar’s second-most cultivated crops after rice and account for 33 per cent of the country’s total agricultural production.
