NO fewer than 9,400 N-Power beneficiaries in three graduate programmes of N-Power; N-Teach, N-Health and N-Agro are currently receiving their posting letters in Anambra State.

The N-Power Volunteer Scheme is one of the federal government’s Social Investment Programmes, where unemployed graduates not more than 35-year-old, were engaged in various fields of work for two years with monthly stipend of N30, 000 each.

The programme which started in 2016 was initiated to address the root cause of unemployment.

“It is an emergency intervention for beneficiaries to use their skills during the stipulated 24 months to improve their status, become entrepreneurs, if they so wish and gain experience in the process.

Addressing the N-Agro coordinators at her ADP office in Awka, Chinwe Iwuchukwu, the deputy focal person, Social Investment Programme, enjoined them to effectively deploy the beneficiaries to their place of primary assignments on or before the deadline of Aug.10.

Iwuchukwu, a senior special assistant, SSA, to governor on donor agencies, commended him for his moral and financial support to see that the state did not relent in playing their part for the success of the programme.

“I know it’s not an easy task to attend to 3,155 unemployed young graduates individually.

“I can see the crowd here, please do all you can to deploy them before the deadline, so they can upload their stamped posting and resumption letters to qualify for August payment,’’ Iwuchukwu said.

Those in N-Teach programme numbering, 5,378 were collecting their posting letters at their various LGAs and Zonal Offices, while those in N-Health numbering 927 would receive theirs in the Anambra State Ministry of Health at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

Ngozika Eziegbuna, one of the beneficiaries, thanked the FG for the job-creation initiative and also the state government for their support, saying that most of them had been out of Job for more than seven years.

She on behalf of her colleagues, pledged to utilise “the wonderful opportunity given to them to work judiciously in order to achieve the purpose of the programme.’’
